If you require a low voltage item (12V, 24V etc.) wired with a longer lead, then purchase the length of wire you need and we will extend it for you. For example, we can add custom lengths of wire onto our LED strip light.
Wire length should be kept to a minimum, where the maximum length will depend on the total power draw over the wire. As a rule of thumb, there is a voltage drop of approximately 0.006V per meter of wire for every watt of load at 12V DC. At 24V, the voltage drop is half.
Example: If you ran 2m of LED-SL5050NCW which draws a total of 30W with a 2m tail, the total voltage drop will be 0.006 x 2 x 30 = 0.36V. The total voltage drop should be kept below 1V.
If you require a long length and are unsure if it will be too long, contact us and our engineer can advise you. We may be able to supply a heavier gauge wire.
