If you require a long lead for low voltage LED lighting, you may need a heavier gauge 2-Core wire to minimize the voltage drop. We have this 2-Core "figure 8" wire that can be used for this purpose. You can purchase the length of wire you want, and we will wire it onto the light for you.
For example, we can add custom lengths of wire onto our LED strip light.
Wire length should be kept to a minimum, where the maximum length will depend on the total power draw over the wire. As a rule of thumb, there is a voltage drop of approximately 0.004V per meter of wire for every watt of load at 12V DC. At 24V, the voltage drop is half.
Example: If you ran 2m of LED-SL5050NCW which draws a total of 30W with a 3m tail, the total voltage drop will be 0.004 x 3 x 30 = 0.36V. The total voltage drop should be kept below 1V.
